Structured Proximity

Within the contained interiors of public transit, architecture organizes proximity. Poles, seats, and narrow aisles determine how bodies align, separate, and share space. Multiple lives unfold simultaneously—parallel, adjacent, layered—held in close quarters by design. The photographs examine how engineered environments bring individuals into nearness while allowing them to remain distinct.
